Day 10

Friday's Activities:

  • Family Inquiry - One of my goals in homeschooling our children is to provide them with a 'real' education. It was with great enthusiasm that we headed to our local food bank to volunteer today as part of our inquiry into food (where it comes from and where it goes). It was also a lesson in being part of a state-wide community. We repackaged 1,620 bags of Chocolate Lucky Charms for hungry kids in New Mexico. That is almost a weeks worth of cereal for that program. What a great feeling for all of us! Oh, and what a great math lesson. We divided, multiplied and added.
  • Arts and Crafts Class - The girls made name tags out of macaroni and pompoms. They also made beaded necklaces. I got to extend the experience by talking about patterns.
